Nigerian Politics Can Never Be About Religion – President Jonathan

Nigerian Politics Can Never Be About Religion – President Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday said Nigeria’s politics had nothing to do with religion.
Jonathan said this in Sokoto at the inauguration of the gubernatorial campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Represented by Dr Halliru Bello, former Minister of Defence and former PDP National Chairman, the President said “God has
Jonathan
created Nigerians with diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds with a view to forging ahead as a united and peaceful nation.’’
Jonathan, therefore, urged Nigerians to vote for a patriotic Nigerian leader who would ensure the sustenance of peace and unity.
He reiterated Federal Government’s determination to conduct free, fair and acceptable 2015 general polls.
The National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, expressed optimism that the party would win the forthcoming elections, at all levels.
He was represented by the Deputy National Chairman, North West, Amb. Ibrahim Kazaure.
The Minister of Health, Dr Halliru Alhassan and his Special Duties counterpart, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki, said that the PDP was alive and united in the North West.
Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, the former governor of the state and Chairman, Elders Committee in the state, assured that the party would wrestle for the governorship position in the state in the forthcoming polls.
Bafarawa said “I am hoping that Wamakko will hand over to Wali,” adding that the PDP government would ensure the prosperity, peace and unity of the state, if Wali was elected.
